Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree in English literature. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Then, she became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was made the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell has appeared in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell covered a wide range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran Contra scandal, the tax reforms to the budget and arms control. Mitchell traveled along with President Ronald Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss issues such as and the Iran Contra controversy.
